“A Prosperous Village that Uplifts the Nation” – Model Village Project
The Community Productivity Model Village Project was launched at Piyarapandowa in the Ella Divisional Secretariat Division. This program is organized by the National Productivity Secretariat under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
The project aims to develop one village from each Divisional Secretariat Division by empowering communities through productivity concepts. It will be implemented from 2026 to 2028, with plans to establish 322 model villages across Sri Lanka.
The main focus areas include education, economy, health and sanitation, household management, social well-being, and environmental and cultural protection.
A key feature of the project is solving village problems through community participation and promoting digital and green entrepreneurship. The ultimate goal is to create clean, happy homes and well-developed villages.
